Events in the Community Centre & Church

DUE TO THE CORONAVIRUS

SAINT CATHERINE’S IS NOW CLOSED FOR PUBLIC WORSHIP

Sadly, we may no longer open our Church even for Private Prayer. Therefore, it is vital at this grave time that we walk closely with Our Lord by maintaining active life of prayer at home and within our families. To quote the Archbishop of Southward in a Pastoral Letter to his Archdiocese: “Although we are socially isolated from each other, we are not isolated from Christ. Now is a time to strengthen our spiritual bonds of connection through personal prayer and the intensification of our inner relationship with Christ.”

While we may not be able to attend Mass nevertheless, we can make a Spiritual Act of Communion each day if we wish and certainly, we should do so on Sundays. A good time to do this is when the Parish Priest will be offering a Daily Solitary Mass on behalf of all the Congregation. The times that Mass will be offered are listed below on this Website.

SAINT CATHERINE’S COMMUNITY SERVICE

Following the new social distancing rules, we have been advised to close our regular Saint Catherine’s Community Centre Drop-In on Mondays and Fridays. However, there is a real need in the Town for some who will be in great difficulty over the coming weeks. Having sought advice and thanks to our volunteers we are going to serve away meals for the homeless and needy on Mondays and Fridays at our Community Centre on Mary Street behind the Church.

The service will consist of the following and the timings will be as follows:

Monday 11:00am – 11:30am HOT TAKE-AWAY

Monday 11:30am – 12:00pm HOT TAKE-AWAY – FOR CHILDREN

Friday 11:00am – 11:30am TOAST & BREW

Kindly circulate these times and feel free to sign-post people to us. Please pray for those who attend and the volunteers.
